- We publish and support writers from poor and working-class backgrounds and feature their work in our quarterly magazine, Lumpen.
- We run educational workshops for communities, groups and organisations to help them learn about their relationship to class, capital and resources.
- We support projects, groups and individuals whose lives are shaped by poverty, class stigma, shame or lack of resources — helping both in terms of ideas and practical help.
- We also work with better-resourced organisations who redistribute resources, advising them on the history and politics of giving, charity and philanthropy.
- We develop policy work, research and economic reform that aims to spread capital and resources more fairly.
- We help connect people who have wealth with places and groups who need access to resources — and we’ve helped move hundreds of thousands of pounds to individuals and groups working for positive change.
Our aims
- Study how class affects our lives.
- Create spaces for poor and working-class people to share their experiences and knowledge.
- Encourage well-resourced and middle-class people to recognise the privileges their class and access to capital gives them.
- Help people from different class backgrounds support each other and work together.
- Support movements and organisations working on social, economic and knowledge-based injustice.
- Build a clearer, more inclusive understanding of class that is fit for the 21st century.
